Collection: Myrtaceae Family

The Myrtaceae family is a vast group of flowering plants that includes over 6,000 species. It is commonly known as the myrtle family and includes well-known plants such as eucalyptus, guava, clove, and allspice.

The majority of Myrtaceae species are native to the tropical regions of the world, especially in Australia. The family is characterized by having simple leaves, small flowers with numerous stamens, and fruit that is a capsule, berry, or drupe. Myrtaceae species are economically important, with some species used for their essential oils, and others for their fruit.

For us rare fruit enthusiasts, Myrtaceae is home to some all-time collector favorites like Campomanesia, Eugenia, and Plinia species.
